Did you know that in 1914 one third of the cars on the road were electric (Ford)?

The City of Chicago , Com Ed and Ford got together recently to talk about electric cars in Chicago. The average Chicago driver commutes less than 40 miles per day (City of Chicago).
If you drive and electric car you will save $10 for every 100 miles you drive in an electric vehicle (ComEd).
Electric vehicles will save 6 tons of carbon dioxide per year (ComEd)
There is a problem with standardizing the plug-ins for electric vehicles. Not all EVs getting ready to launch in the US have a uniform plug, which makes public charging stations a challenge (ComEd).

Ford will be using a lithium ion battery in their EVs (Ford), and by 2020, Ford plans to have around 25 percent of their vehicles be EVs or plug-in hybrids (Ford). Ford says that the Focus EV when it launches is projected to get 100 miles per charge (Ford)

MSRP: $28,950 – $42,465

SUVs aren’t cheap — especially the kind that look like they just rolled off the set of a rap video. You can, however, save some dough by forgoing the Cadillac Escalade for the more affordable, yet ever-so-hip Ford Flex. With the money you save, you can option it out to your heart’s desire — which shouldn’t be a problem given the Flex’s long list of extras. “Optioned up right, the 2010 Ford Flex SEL with EcoBoost impresses as a tech cruiser, and can haul around plenty of people or cargo in unique style,” writes CNET. Among its many optional features, the Ford Flex can be equipped with a Dual-Headrest DVD Entertainment System, Ford’s highly-acclaimed SYNC infotainment technology, voice-activated navigation, four skylights, and even a refrigerated rear console that’s big enough to chill seven cans of Crunk Juice. That’s enough to impress the Funk Master himself

I have been surfing the Internet looking for Chicago Ford Dealer reviews. There are quite a number of places where you can go to post your “review” of a local Chicago dealer, and the experience you had. Some of these sites, like Edmunds , Dealerrater, and Yelp have what look to be independent reviews by customers who either bought cars or had their vehicle serviced by the named dealers. The problem is that the number of reviews for any specific dealer are few with lots of time between reviews. I have yet to find the definitive Chicago area (or any other area) car dealer review site.

One of the sites I would stay clear of are those that are designed and paid for by the dealer. Check out this site Typical Chicago Ford Dealer.

What do you think? Could you tell that the dealer controls the content of the site?

Please post your comments on dealer review sites you have found to be helpful (or not).
